    Four College of Education and Human Development researchers have spent the past ten years working with mothers from Latine immigrant communities in Alexandria to help define specific structural and systemic barriers and find solutions that meet community expectations and needs.

    Dr. Davidson Mhonde, Assistant Professor of Global and Community Health, teaches global and public health, health communication, and research methods. Her research focuses on reducing health inequities due to racism and intersecting forms of oppression through applied health communication science.

    Dr. Tompkins, Associate Dean for Faculty and Staff Affairs and Professor, teaches human behavior, research, and gerontology courses in the Social Work Department. She is interested in developing new programs for undergraduate students and developing innovations in distance education.
